Principal Organist

ST. LOUIS CATHOLIC CHURCH PRINCIPAL ORGANIST JOB DESCRIPTION - HIGHLIGHTS:

St. Louis King of France Catholic Church (Austin, TX) is seeking a Principal Organist who will contribute to the liturgy by providing professional level organ music for Masses and other services, in collaboration with the Pastor and Director of Sacred Music as part of the overall music program at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School. This position reports directly to the Director of Sacred Music and operates with some latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative.  This is a full time position with benefits.

The Principal Organist is tasked with cultivating, preparing, and presenting high quality works of the great organ master composers from the Canon, as well as fostering works by new composers, which support the Catholic liturgy and worship environment. The organist should also have a wide range of musical repertoire, historical styles, and performance practice in their training and knowledge. Ample practice time will be preserved for the organist for study and preparation.

The Principal Organist will assist the Director of Music in maintaining the overall organization of the Music Ministry, and two central responsibilities include assistance with management and development of the St. Louis King's Music concert series, as well as the short and long term care and expansion of the three organs in the Chapel and the Nave.
