Compensation: Commensurate with Education and Experience (Additional compensation negotiable depending upon experience and responsibilities).
Trinity Lutheran Church is a dynamic church family called by God to nurture each other in our daily journey of faith. We are seeking a Director of Music to aid in this mission of enriching the faith life of our congregation and sharing the joy of the gospel. Currently, Trinity has an adult choir, a bell choir, a concert series and a strong diverse community of vocalists and instrumentalists. The ideal candidate would oversee the Trinity music program, organize, and offer exceptional music for traditional worship services, accompany the Trinity Adult Choir, and connect with the staff, congregation and the wider community through concerts, education, and collaboration.
Major Responsibilities
· Oversee Trinity music program in collaboration with pastors, music staff, and other lay leaders.
· Provide organ and piano music for two traditional worship services, selecting service music that not only honors and treasures our rich Lutheran liturgical tradition, but also celebrates the richness of other cultures and traditions, recognizing that our worship is enriched through a wide variety of musical styles and arrangements.
· Provide music for weddings, funerals, and special services such as Advent, Christmas Eve, Lent, and Holy Week.
· Incorporate Trinity and community musicians into the worship services.
· Supervise the maintenance of the musical instruments (organ, piano, and harpsichord).
· Accompany Trinity Adult Choir for weekly rehearsals.
· Aspirations of growth in this position could include developing a children’s choir and other areas of music ministry.
Knowledge and Skills
· Minimum of a Bachelor’s in Music, Master’s preferred.
· Demonstrate skill and excellence in playing organ and piano in the liturgical worship setting.
· Knowledge and appreciation of liturgical worship, including the richness of creative hymn arrangements, liturgical worship settings, and organ
repertoire that integrates into the tapestry of liturgical worship.
· Understanding of the Revised Common Lectionary for selecting thematic music for liturgical worship services.
· Vision and creativity in worship planning.
· Interpersonal skills to work well with pastors, staff, other musicians and leaders in the congregation and community to enhance worship.

• Two selections suitable for prelude or postlude from two varied time periods on organ.
• Two hymns for congregational singing on organ.
• One hymn for congregational singing on piano.
