Part-time Associate Organist

Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Clarence, New York is seeking a part-time, associate organist. Holy Cross Lutheran Church has a proud, 60+ year history and a reputed music program. The associate organist position requires an individual who is experienced and knowledgeable in traditional and contemporary church music. Proficiency in the accompaniment of soloists, ensembles and choirs is desired. A team player with some flexibility is preferred, as Holy Cross currently has an organist for our 8:00 Sunday service every week who can also play at our late service during the summer, if necessary, and a praise band which typically plays twice per month for our late service.

Responsibilities:

· Reports to the Pastor.

· Responsible for organist music (including choir accompaniment) at 11:00 am Sunday services at least two to three Sundays per month during the months of September through May, plus some special church holiday services such as: one Wednesday Advent service, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday evening, one Wednesday evening Lenten service, Holy Thursday evening, Good Friday evening, and as requested by the Pastor.

· Responsible for piano accompaniment of choir rehearsals as requested by the Choir Director.

· Responsible for preparing appropriate prelude, postlude and offertory solos (and accompaniment) in consultation with the Pastor, Choir Director or Principal Organist.

· Responsible for providing accompanying the choir and any soloists during services played.

· Participation in special music programs of the church may be requested.

. Second call (after principal organist) for funerals and weddings.

Compensation:

· $150 per service, which is reviewed annually.

. $50 when substituting for a choir rehearsal, which is reviewed annually.

· $150 for funerals

$200 for weddings.

. Limited continuing education / seminar expenses may be covered, as pre-approved by the Pastor.
